Subtitling
Deluxe Digital London have specialised in, created and developed proprietary theatrical subtitling software which has evolved over a number of years along with distribution and format technology. Our software is specifically designed to accommodate all our varied subtitling services, ensuring visual and technical accuracy. DDL offers a globally exclusive and varied repertoire of subtitling skills and techniques which are unique to any company in the world.
Our subtitling department will take scripts in English or local language, in whatever format, with or without timings and offer an end to end service, delivering your final distribution master – whether it be on film, drive or tape.
Digital Cinema Subtitling
Deluxe Digital London’s proprietary subtitling software generates DCI compliant XML files which are passed to our Digital Cinema department for inclusion within the respective DCP. Our flexibility allows us to import and convert from a multitude of subtitling system formats and operate a real time generation workflow through our Digital Cinema Playback Server.
3D Digital Cinema Subtitling
3D subtitling is a prime example of the continuing innovation and expertise offered by Deluxe Digital London. We have now developed an exclusive and patented system for subtitling in 3D. Currently no other company in the world is able to deliver 3D subtitles as accurately and efficiently for 3D pictures as DDL.
By operating specially designed tracking software for left eye/right eye and up/down movement we are able to create a master file and subsequently use this for Digital Cinema multi language versions. Our aim is to optimise positioning and readability in a 3D format.
As ever we are continuing to strive for efficiency for our clients, meaning we are developing quicker rendering, compression and positioning workflows.
Laser Subtitling
In conjunction with our Film laboratory in Denham, we are able to create and supply laser subtitled prints, whereby we subtitle into the emulsion of individual 35mm release prints. This technique is done on a reel by reel basis and is used for small print runs (1-10), therefore mainly show prints, prints for premieres and English Hard of Hearing.
Overlay Subtitling
Deluxe Digital London have a customised workflow designed to shoot overlays. This shoots feature length reels on High Contrast stock as clear subtitles on a black background. This process then combines with an Interpositive at our Lab to create a new subtitled Internegative. This new Internegative can then be treated as normal and bulk prints made from it. This is used for larger print runs normally when no digital backgrounds are available.
Digital Interneg Subtitling
Our DFX department in Dering Street has a specialised subtitling workstation which generates subtitle Tiff files and an EDL. These files are then placed over Cineon or DPX files and rendered digitally using the Deluxe proprietary EWorks system. The resulting files then go to the film recorders for 35mm output. This process is commonly used for trailers and features where digital backgrounds exist and is a seamless and high quality way to deliver to an international audience.
