Deluxe Digital London operates the market leading scanning and film record technology available in the industry. The department provides solutions for real time and pin registered scanning and also operates the largest capacity film record department in Europe.
The Scan & Record department, in conjunction with Deluxe Laboratories, facilitates much of Europe’s distribution for many major motion picture studios and archive clients.

Film Scanning
Arriscan Film scanner
Deluxe Digital London operates 2 Arriscan machines. The Arriscan is a Pin Registered film scanner that scans 35mm and 16mm film (super and standard for both) up to 6K resolution. Our 2 Arri Scanners are equipped with 35mm 4,3,2 perf and 16mm scanning capabilities.
We can scan Original Camera Negative, Inter-positive, Inter-negative and Print at a 2 frame per sec scan rate at 6k to 2k double pass using CMOS sensors. ‘OCN’ is output to dpx, cineon (10-bit log) or tiff format (16-bit linear). All modern stocks have there own characterised matrix.
Spirit 2 Data Cine
DDL also operates the Spirit 4K Datacine as a real time film to data scanner. The Spirit 4K Datacine is able to scan film to 4K, 2K, HD and SD resolution, and is one of the leading film to data/video transfer machines in the world. It is also one of a handful in the UK able to scan to 4K resolution When operating at 2K it is able to provide real time scanning ensuring time and cost benefits where appropriate for the client. Scanning of 35mm and 16mm (super and standard for both) is available.
Film Record
Deluxe Digital London offers the largest capacity film record department in Europe with six Arrilasers and a 24/7 staff coverage to ensure a full six reel feature can be filmed out within 24 hours for overnight processing, ensuring a rush print delivery the next morning.
Our Record department is in constant contact with Deluxe Denham Laboratories to ensure control is kept within the highest of tolerance. Our daily negative and print tracking scheme ensures that we are consistent to Efilm and Arri Standards at all times.
All standard Image Processing and Geometry manipulations can be performed in camera e.g. Cropping, Resizing and Sharpening. If you have bespoke requirements we can accommodate in almost every way. And with all of our Arri’s fully equipped with the ‘Native Academy’ setting, your original data can be ‘re-pitched’ without fear of digital artefacts and the necessity to provide re-rendered re-sized images, saving more time.
Currently we can filmout at 2.1 seconds per frame for 2K S35 and 3.8 seconds per frame for 4K S35. HD 1920x1080 resolution projects filmout approximately 1.3 seconds per frame.
We use Titanium Magazines to ensure heat resistance therefore reducing head to tail density drift. They also have a capacity for a 2,250 ft per reel (36,000 frames) record out potential. No splices necessary!
